B-25 FLIGHT TRAINING
A rare opportunity to acquire a Pilot-in-Command (PIC) type rating or a Second-in-Command (SIC) type rating at the controls of a WWII bomber made famous by Gen. Jimmy Doolittle in the “Doolittle Tokyo Raid”. Learn about the history of the North American B-25 “Mitchell” medium bomber and its many roles in WWII. Experience the thrill and sound of both Curtis Wright R-2600 engines developing a total of 3400 horsepower during take-off. Feel the controls as you guide this beautiful piece of history through the skies.
This WWII training video reflects the procedures being taught by the Army Air Forces at
a midpoint of WWII combat training. The procedures we teach will be found in the later
USAF training manuals and may differ in content from these early WWII training videos.
The PIC and SIC courses will include a one day Ground School, flight training in the B-25 “Panchito”, training materials to include checklists, Pilot’s Operating Handbook, course outline and much more.
Minimum requirements for each of the training courses are noted below in the course description. Holders of Foreign Certificates and Non U.S. Citizens will require a TSA background check and a U.S. Equivalency Certificate. Additional experience levels may be required.
For class dates check the events page (tab). For additional information and enrollment contact, please email us at flighttraining@delawareaviationmuseum.org. Additional training dates can be coordinated with client and instructor availability.
The B-25 Ground School will have no minimum requirements other than a passion for aviation. You do NOT have to be a pilot to sign up for the Ground School. It will be open to anyone who wants to learn more about this great warbird. (Please note that Ground School is only available on the first day of SIC training).
Our instructors have extensive backgrounds as professional career pilots. Our FAA approved maintenance program is directed by an A&P mechanic with an Inspector Authorization as well as four additional A&P mechanics three of which hold Inspector Authorizations.

Developed to fit the requests of our SIC graduates that wanted additional time in the B25. Anyone with a B25 SIC endorsement or type rating can sign up for our SIC recurrent training. Our objective is to provide our SIC pilots with a unique range of choices to best fulfill their B25 SIC goals.
We have three B25 SIC recurrent programs:
A. SIC Recurrent - $4720
This is a basic program designed to train a SIC to recurrent standards specified in CFAR 61.55. This course consists of a 1-day training session with a preflight/post flight briefing and 1 flight for up to 1.2 hours*. A recurrent exam will need to be submitted prior to training, however this can be completed before arriving to training.
B. SIC Advanced Proficiency - $5875
Provides our SICs with an option to learn the right seat duties from preflight through to parking. This course does not provide recurrent training. The majority of the time the SIC will occupy the right seat for all phases of flight to thoroughly experience the crew environment necessary to fly the B25. There is a minimum of 1 takeoff and landing for the SIC to get some flying. This is a 1-day training session with preflight/post flight briefings and 1 flight of up to 1.5 hours*. A recurrent exam is not necessary for this program.
C. SIC Advanced Recurrent - $6975
Combines the FAA SIC recurrent requirements with SIC right seat duties. This gives the SIC an opportunity to experience the crew environment of right seat duties as well as training for the recurrent standards stated in CFAR 61.55. This course does require a recurrent exam that will be completed prior to training. This course is a 1-day training session with preflight/post flight briefings and 1 flight of 1.8 hours* for a price of.
Scheduling for all SIC Recurrent courses is flexible depending on aircraft and instructor schedules and will be separate from our initial SIC training events.
